We Breathe In Starts.png

Pro Coro has released their new CD We Breathe In Stars. It contains my choral piece How Good Will It Feel.

The Standing Stones of Stenness Commissioned by the Alberta Band Association and premiered by the Alberta Virtual Honour Band and members of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

It's finally here! The release of my newest CD! The record features incredible performances by James Campbell on my clarinet concerto Dreaming of the Masters I and PJ Perry on my saxophone concerto Dreaming of the Masters IV. We recorded in Prague in May of 2019 with a 65-piece orchestra conducted by Raymond Baril, produced by Paul Johnston, and featuring Neil Swainson, Dave Laing, and Chris Andrew in the rhythm section.

Projects & Performances

The Englishman's Boy

 

I ended 2023 with a 2-week residency at the Banff Centre. Thanks to the Slaight Foundation, the creative team was able to take some huge steps in the development of this exciting new musical.

Edmonton Winds

The Edmonton Winds are recording a new CD in February that will include Dreaming of the Master's IV, and The Standing Stones of Stennes.

I will be writing and performing with the Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra March

Pipe Dreams

March 28 at the Yardbird Suite, Bent River Records will release Pipe Dreams. This new record features the concerto for flute and big band written for the legendary Jim Walker.

The Planets

May 5 at the Yardbird I will conduct The River City Big Band in the premiere of my arrangement of Holst's The Planets.

Festival of the Sound

I will return to The Festival of the Sound in July for their 45th anniversary. I will be writing a new work for clarinet, piano, cello, and violin for my long time friend and collaborator Jim Campbell,

Peggy and Balmer

I'm excited to be working with filmmaker Tom Radford on his documentary Peggy and Balmer. The film will premiere in September.

​

Finally, I will step down this July as Dean of Fine Arts at MacEwan University, and begin a 1-year administrative leave. I am looking forward to returning to teaching in the fall of 2025.
