Program Notes

This piece started from a short work for string quartet written for Nigel Osborne's 60th birthday celebration. I enjoyed the direction it was heading and wanted to develop those ideas further. The title Grey Blues comes from a fascination I have with the many shades of grey that the weather in Scotland presents and by the fact that the harmony is loosely blues based.
